Outlook Add-in

AI-powered email correspondence directly in your inbox.

Your email inbox is where you receive client requests, triage long threads, and draft careful replies. Noxtua’s Outlook Add-in helps you handle email correspondence efficiently while keeping all the work in one place.

What is the Outlook Add-in?

The Outlook Add-in brings Noxtua's legal intelligence to your inbox in Microsoft Outlook. It opens as a pane on the right side of your email window, ready to write summaries, review attachments, draft replies, and more.

Under the hood, the Outlook Add-in runs on the same Chat engine and backend services that power the Noxtua web app — so you get the same quality of answers and research without leaving your inbox.

Because email correspondence is strictly confidential, Noxtua only reads the email you currently have open and accesses attachments only if you explicitly allow it to see them. It never scans your wider inbox and never sends an email on its own. Nothing goes out until you click Send yourself.

Read mode and Reply mode

The add-in adapts to what you’re doing in Outlook:

Read mode opens when you click an email in your inbox – ideal for summarizing, reviewing attachments, or researching. You can also draft a new email here and open it in its own window.

Reply mode opens when you click Reply on an email – this is where Noxtua drafts a response you can review and insert directly into your compose window.

Main use cases with the Outlook Add-in

Email understanding

Catch up on a long email at a glance. Noxtua summarizes it, translates it, or pulls out the key information.

Attachment check

Review the attached documents, for example, to confirm that the revised agreement accurately reflects the points agreed upon in the email. You can also upload additional files via the chat field – either by dragging and dropping them or using the upload button – for example, to compare versions or add reference material.

Once a file is uploaded, you can reference it directly in your prompt with an @mention so Noxtua knows exactly which document to draw on.

Where reasonable, Noxtua provides direct citations from your documents in its answer. You can click a citation to see the passage in the document.

Please note: If you want to draft, edit, and thoroughly review documents, the Word Add-in is the right place for you.

Reply drafting

Have Noxtua write a reply that builds on the email’s context, your requirements, and previously generated insights. The reply appears as a draft card for you to review.

When using the add-in in Reply mode, click “insert as reply” to place it in your open compose window. Make any final edits, then click "Send".

When using Read mode, click “Open as draft” to open a draft window with the generated reply. Make any adjustments, then click "Send".

Legal research

Ask legal questions just as you would in the Noxtua web app. Every answer comes with citations you can verify.

Before sending, you can also pull in relevant legal research or firm knowledge to validate that your reply is accurate and complete – combining insights from Legal research directly into your draft.

How to install and use the Outlook Add-in

  1. Install the add-in from the Microsoft Marketplace or directly in your Microsoft Outlook app. For further guidance, follow Microsoft's instructions for installing add-ins in Outlook.

Please note:

  • If your organization does not allow you to install the add-in yourself, contact your IT department.

  • Noxtua’s Outlook Add-in requires Outlook version 1.13 or later.

  1. Open the add-in in Microsoft Outlook.

  2. Sign in with your existing Noxtua account credentials.

Managing access to emails and attachments

Once you are signed in, Noxtua automatically detects the open email and its attachments and lists them as available sources. These appear in the ‘Sources’ box above the chat field, where you can see and select which sources Noxtua accesses. This way, you control exactly which sources the AI processes.

Noxtua only accesses the open email, not the entire thread. However, if the email itself contains the email history, Noxtua can read and process it.

If you'd like the add-in to remain open as you switch between emails, you can pin it. This way, you don't need to reopen it each time you switch to a new message.
